Unless you've actually been to Frames of Mine in Fort Lee, or know someone who has, you might be tempted to assume it's yet another custom framing shop ... or perhaps a place that sells eyeglasses. But, in fact this 27 year-old store sporting a can't miss-it shade of pink is a custom framing/home decor/gift shop all rolled into one.

Every square foot of the delightful, constantly changing store is filled with eclectic finds - mirrors, clocks, lamps, hand-painted furniture, decorative boxes, tea pots, cookie jars, accent pillows, whimsical glass bottles, lamp shades, even walking sticks. So be forewarned: it will take you at least two hours or may even to visits to investigate every nook and cranny of the rambling shop, which is set to two attached old houses. (Note cards and photo albums are tucked into former bathroom).

"We try to fill a void for busy people in terms of home accessorizing and gift giving. If you need something for a particular spot in your house or you need a hostess gift, we can take  care of it for you," says owner Susan Boni, whose background in art history and interior design is a natural complement to her business. "We like to give people ideas and open up their minds."

The philosophy applies to custom framing, too, which still accounts for 60 percent to 70 percent of the store's business. "Most of my customers don't know what they're looking for when they walk in the door. But I can envision what the piece is going to look like when it's framed. I know what it needs," says Boni, who started working in her parents' family shop on Long Island at the tender age of 12. "I truly love what I do."
